There was an era of scholars and Shaiva teachers in Kashmir who propounded Shaivism. It spread through Guru Shishya tradition, passed on from Guru to his disciple. Each one added to the philosophy leading to Self-realisation and enriched it by writing about his own experiences. That collection is known as Kashmir Shaivism.
It presents the idea that the whole universe and all the objective world of matter is Shiva, and it is experienced because of Shiva.
A branch of Shaivism called ‘Vijnan Bhairav’, is a study of a Self-realised Yogi who appears to be an ordinary man living an extraordinary life full of yogic splendour.
Listening to the pravachanas is of immense value to us as we are stuck to leading a common, mundane life trying to inculcate yoga in our daily lives.
